GCMS abbreviations: BFD
BFD or BF’D stands for Bring Forward Date
Often when an action is required on your file an officer sets a so called bring forward date. It works like a simple alarm clock, or like a calendar reminder: when the set date comes, the system will notify the officer responsible for processing the application that now it’s time to look into it and see if it’s possible to proceed with the case.
For example, an officer may request the applicant to send additional documents (police clearance certificate, employment reference, bank statement and so on). Upon sending such a request an officer may set a bring forward date in the system for this application, thus giving an applicant sufficient time to respond. When the set date comes, an officer will receive a notification, look into the case again and see if any incoming mail has been associated with the file. If so, an officer may proceed to the following stage.
